So as you can see in the question title, I'm considering buying a MacBook. Especially through the home schooling of the past few weeks, I noticed that my laptop is no longer up to the task. Next year I'm going to a high school and that's why I need one.
So I would need the MacBook for school and my little sister would play Sims 4, Star Stable and Moviestarplanet on it.
My question now is which of the two is more suitable now? The games she wants to play don't need such a good laptop, but ours doesn't. I want a laptop that doesn't hang all the time. What are the major differences between the two? Which one would you take? I would have wanted to use this MacBook for a long time. Abed it is quite important to me that it is a MacBook because I had no good experiences with all other brands and also have 300 euro Apple Store vouchers.
That's enough
I would not buy a Macbook that it is very expensive. Since your sister wants to play Sims4 or something, the laptop / Macbook needs a certain amount of power.
It's my own opinion and you shouldn't let my opinion influence you.

If you really need a MacBook, then definitely the MacBook Pro. The Air can hit the bin as soon as you do more than just typing and surfing.
I see it that way too. Macbooks are not designed for gaming.
The MacBook Air will be significantly cheaper.
Disadvantage: less performance
The MacBook Pro, however, is more powerful.
Disadvantage: higher price
The games mentioned will probably run on both devices (even with minimum equipment) with a stable 60 FPS, if not on the highest graphics settings. 👌🏻
Personally, I would probably choose a MacBook Pro, but if the budget is limited, choose a more well-equipped MacBook Air.
Basically, I like the MacBook pro better than the Air version. But everyone has to decide what is better for them.
The MacBooks pro are technically better equipped than the MacBook Air. This is one reason why the battery in the MacBook Air may last much longer than the MacBook Pro. More power = more power consumption is a clear reason. But if you have to work far and long away from any socket, it is easy to get over if the computer is not quite as fast as the "big brother". Such a MacBook Air is definitely fast.
You can actually use games on MacBooks, but it's not really made for it and it's too expensive. A Windows laptop would be much cheaper. Here I would consider what more to do on the MacBook. Otherwise you can also install Windows on MacBooks, conversely this is not (or hardly) possible.
Also look around for used MacBooks. They are much cheaper than new goods from the Apple Store. You can easily save the three hundred euro. Expect such a MacBook to be easy to use for ten years.
