Upgrade Macbook Upgrade RAM or Processor?

I plan to get a new MacBook Pro soon. I would definitely upgrade the memory to 513 GB.
Now my question would be what would make more sense to upgrade the processor or the RAM and whether I, as a "normal" user, would even notice a difference. Is it even worth upgrading one of the two?
I mostly use the laptop for university, but I also want to play Sims 4 on it. And it should also run as well as possible.

Upgrade RAM. If you have 8 then go to 16.

You can't upgrade the processor. On the one hand everything is soldered, on the other hand the exhaust air would not work. There's no better performance.

Sw

I mean by asking what to choose for the MacBook I want to buy. More memory or a better processor. And whether I notice a difference.

Ma

For most applications, 8 GB of RAM is sufficient on a Mac, provided that none is used, which originally came from Windows and demands enormous performance from every computer. The same is true for the main processor.

The minimum requirements SIMS 4, which also comes from the Windows world, places on a Mac can be found on the associated homepage.

Thank's for the Tipps. What you actually need and what you should perhaps have to keep things going well varies sometimes. I just want it to go really well.

Ab

The more sensible upgrade is the RAM. The current generation of i5 and i7 are so thermally sensitive that they actually have the same performance after a very short period of use due to thermal downclocking. Ergo in practice the update makes no difference. And when you're missing ram, it's usually very painful to notice.

What is there to choose from? 8 vs 16 GB?

Sw

Yes exactly 8 vs 16. And 1.4 GHz vs 1.7.

Or both in the basic configuration. Or both higher. Depending on which would make more sense (i.e. Whether I even notice a difference)

Mi

So if you really only use it for office activities, then even the smallest model is sufficient.

Where you should be careful: I personally think 13 "is very small to work on, especially if you work on it a lot.

Sw

OK thanks. Only for Office I would probably even use the Air, but I also want to play Sims 4 on it and that it runs as smoothly and smoothly as possible. Maybe even Sims 3 if it gets back up on Mac at some point. I wasn't sure if there would be more RAM or anything like that.

Icv have to say that I want to take it with me to university 16 inches are just too big for me. But I thought about waiting until next year and then buying the new 14-inch MacBook. I've heard rumors that it should be bigger then, but I don't know if that's true.

Mi

I can't tell you anything about the rumors.

A tabler or pen & paper is much more suitable for taking notes.

Otherwise I would recommend 16 GB anytime today. You probably won't need this for Office and Sims, but if you're doing something in the direction of photography or filming, for example, you will need it quickly. What are you studying then?

Sw

I study law. For taking notes, I use my I Pad with Apple Pencil a lot. Grade to solve cases. But for homework I also need the full version of Word. And it is better to write on a "real keyboard".
