MacBook Air is getting hot, is this normal?

I bought a MacBook Air (2019, 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5) a few months ago. Unfortunately, the device heats up very quickly and the fan gets very loud very quickly. At the moment I only use the device (!) For Google Chrome (the same problem occurs with Safari) and apart from Chrome and Spotify I don't have any other programs on the device. Is it normal for these applications to overload the laptop so quickly? Unfortunately, I don't know anything about laptops at all, so I don't know where to put the problem. Before that, I had a junk Lenovo that was only half the price and never gave me any problems.

I would be very happy to hear from you. If the problem is really abnormal, I'm pretty sure I can just have it replaced.

Did you notice what the weather is currently?

In addition, Apple's cooling solutions have not been the most powerful in their mobile devices for a long time. So yes, that's normal in this weather. Give your little friend air to breathe under the stomach.

Va

Yes, that's because of the Macbook and is normal there.

Macbook Air = garbage at moon prices

Lenovo Thinkpads or similar = Good hardware at fair prices

Conclusion: At apple you pay for the brand. The hardware is worth maybe 300-400 euro.

I also find it a bit annoying that Apple's design is more important than function. But the actual hardware is great, good panels, solid housing and always the latest hardware from Intel. You don't get that from Xiaomi and Co for 3-400 euro either.

A slightly elevated temperature can be good at these temperatures. I own a MacBook Pro 2019 and a slightly hotter bottom is not uncommon for me. If it gets worse, contact Apple Support.

The panels are good, the rest unfortunately not. And the "latest" hardware from Intel is no plus point when you look at what they are installing and how they cool it. I feel sorry for the people who buy something like that.

Va

They can't do anything, that's because of Apple's cooling design. So it's a design mistake on the part of Apple, nothing can be done about it.

I see you are here to constructively help the questioner with his question and not to spread your hatred of Apple, keep it up! Exactly answers like these probably nobody needs here!

Gu

I thought so, thank you very much! I was probably too tempted by the brand…

Gu

Unfortunately it also happens in colder temperatures, but thanks anyway!

Yes, if you want a good notebook:

Lenovo Thinkpads

Dell XPS

HP Elitebook

They are of high quality for a fair price and have better hardware than the Macbooks.
