Is it safe to transfer files now (virus, adware)?

I had a supposed virus on my laptop, which made sure that before the actual search results in the browser, falsified results were displayed, which were full of advertising. I then found out that this was due to an extension of my browser. Since I was pretty surprised, because this extension has never caused me any problems.

Well, then they removed and the problem was gone immediately. Have again AdwCleaner run over and according to the everything is okay.

Is it safe to transfer images and videos from the laptop to my new computer via USB? Or can something worse come along? Actually my laptop is virus free now.

Should be "safe". It was not a real virus, but an extension of your browser. It often happens that extensions are resold and "functionalities" are added.

If you want to be on the safe side, then you should set up your operating system again.

I then found out that this was due to an extension of my browser.

Yeah, that's what happens when you use some dubious browser extensions. That unfortunately make too many people. The mesite extensions are unnecessary. There are only a few that you should use. And they are all open source and are being developed by capable developers.

That's exactly what it must have been. I have had this extension for half a year and never had any problems with it, just two weeks ago it started.

Under Windows, every installed software has access to everything without any control. That's just the way it is with closed source - that's a big disadvantage in the Microsoft universe.

And how does that answer my question?
