Laptop does not boot up anymore. Fan rotates only when the memory is out. How to find out if it is RAM or the MB?

I'm not getting any further.

I have a Medion Akoya laptop (P6634).
Last night he just went out on business, after that he did not run anymore.

No picture, no sound, fan does not turn. Only the power light.
Power supply replaced, same problem. Even without a battery.
Battery already removed.

Now I had opened the laptop and once the memory is removed, and then runs the fan. If the memory is used, the fan rotates (only briefly when you turn off), and the CPU and GPU chips are hot.

Well, before I buy a new MB or RAM, can I still somehow make out, whether it is the MB or RAM?

Unfortunately, I find neither a jumper, a reset button, nor any connection or pins where you could attach a diagnostic tool.

If nothing at all (no beeping), this usually indicates a faulty CPU, where no one can tell if the motherboard itself is not (even) broken.

If only the RAM was defective, the device would have to output an error tone at least from the BIOS.

I would first try it with a "new" Core i3-2350m on the existing motherboard. This CPU you get used on Ebay already from about 10 - 12 Euro.

To check the motherboard, I would simply install all the parts in another PC and then see if they still work or just equip the motherboard with new parts. Whenever it does not work you know what's wrong

The laptop has never beeped and there's no pieper. So I can't mind that.

Unfortunately, can only be tested by swapping the parts. Since the notebook is now 6 years old and was already an entry-level model, it does not pay to make huge investments.

Used SODIMM DDR3 1333 MHz - 4 GB-bars are available from 10 - 15, - € on the classified ad portals. It's worth a try.

Used motherboards are already much higher and are expensive to install. Since you can hardly prove that a replacement motherboard is defective or functional (if it does not work, you do not know if not something else prevents the operation), the motherboard exchange is only ecologically, not economically useful.

This is a laptop and its components or memory, I can't pack somewhere else. Anyway, I would not know now where I find n memory with the same form factor elsewhere

This will be difficult without a try. I've just mocked my (very) old Acer book's RAM, and then the fans turned up and the drives (CDR and HDD) were heard in their spin-up sounds. More did not happen.

Do you have another RAM module to test?
