New laptop is crazy?

I have a laptop and have only worked on Word until now and Tzd always connects my laptop and switching it off always takes a long time. Why is that? I've only had it for 2/3 months and it works like it's 10 years old

Which model? Sounds like a combination of Celeron / Pentium and a Hdd.
