I have a question I got a screen for free because it has no built-in sound, it was free. Friends think I can make a sound with the connection to the laptop. Take an external speaker, that's probably even better.
Internal screen speakers are the biggest junk anyway.
Buy normal external ones. They're not that expensive either.
I think you're confusing something;
A monitor is an output device that receives the image and audio signals from a computer.
If the monitor has no audio input (signal input), it can't output any sound via the integrated loudspeakers.
Your friends certainly thought that you can connect the laptop (which has speakers) to the monitor and thus have a better picture and some sound.
PC speakers are better here. Simple 2.1 sound systems with a subwoofer are available for 30 euro.

Your laptop has a jack output (headphone jack). Then you connect the 2.1 system. The signal is the same.
