I have a laptop with a jack connection and a headset with a jack connection, however the microphone of the headset does not work on the laptop but only the headphones. The internal microphone is still used. If I connect the headset to the cell phone everything works fine.

So the headset has a combination plug, but your laptop probably has two. If that's the case, you'll need a splinter.
If your laptop also has a combination connection, you have to check the recording devices to see if your microphone is set as the active one.

I assume you have a combination connector on the laptop and not shared. How do you know that it is not recognized? Just because it doesn't work? Because that means nothing.
If there's only one socket, it will be a combination socket, then you have to look in the sound settings.
