I forgot the charging cable of my laptop and I can get it there (picture)
I'm using the power cord from another PC with a larger connector and connecting the wires from a connector that fits into my laptop. The light is on and I would like to fix it with electrical tape.
But is the whole thing dangerous? 3.42A and 19V are likely to flow
If you tap the wire there and maybe put a toothpick in the front, that's fine. But I would not consider it a permanent solution
How exactly do you mean with the toothpick?
And do you really know about it? So far, everyone else has claimed that it would be completely life-threatening.
With toothpicks I mean that you should fix the red wire like this.
However, I also say that this can only be a temporary solution. I would never leave such a construction unattended.
Oh thanks!
As I said. If you tinker something like that then just make sure that everything is firmly and insulated as possible.
Thank you😅 yes I will stick it with insulating tape and toothpick and then insert it
If there's no other way… Ok. Always be there and make sure that it does not get warm.
And don't let it charge unattended.
Incidentally, differently than some say here: nothing will happen if you touch the wires.
Thank you so much!
Have never had so many answers to a question after a few seconds but should have known that in the beginning only empty statements come up, although nobody knows anything about them.
I've already done it if it's an emergency.
Nothing can happen to you with 19V
If you have a gas or gasoline vapor atmosphere and the wires spark, there's an explosion… But otherwise it doesn't matter.
If the contact areas are too small, the plug can become warm.
Not recommended as a permanent solution.
Nothing can happen there. It is definitely 19 volts and not ampere 😉. And if you cause a short circuit, the power supply will switch off automatically, which prevents the booth from flaring. So don't be afraid, but I would better fix the cables with a wire or adhesive tape as it would bother me if they kept going off.
Assuming that the usual tensions are loaded here, there's no direct physical danger. It is never a good idea to touch bare contacts as long as they are in use - if only to avoid being endangered by a possible malfunction - but as I said, there's no particular risk of contact.
The contacts seem to be sufficiently conductive, so the notebook should be able to charge.
Nevertheless: Only operate such a "laboratory setup" under permanent supervision! Protection against malfunctions, such as loosening of the contacts, is lacking. This could, for example, lead to heating constrictions or the short circuit of the power supply. Both pose a fire hazard.
In the low-voltage range at low currents, a "handicraft" may go temporarily, but it should not be a permanent solution.
