Hi, i would like to connect a monitor to my laptop and have bought a docking station that has a vga and hdmi connection, if i then plug a vga cable from my laptop into the docking station and from there an hdmi cable to the monitor close, is that possible and which channel must be selected on the monitor?
If it works you have to set it to HDMI, I have to run my ps4 via vga cable with adapter

No it won't work.
A docking station has a connection which takes the signals from the laptop and then outputs them.
Usually it is about a wider availability of connections.
You have to place the laptop in the docking station, connect it and then simply run an HDMI cable from the docking station to the screen.
