Ebay classifieds - can I display it?

I ordered a used laptop on eBay Classifieds. I asked the seller first if it works at all. He replied that he didn't know because he had received it as a present. I then paid the money through PayPal through friends and family. The laptop arrived yesterday and who would have thought it wouldn't work.

Do I still have a good chance of reporting it?

What do you want to show him for? You got a clear answer. He doesn't know and you bought anyway.

You knew that it might not work and bought it anyway - that's why there's no need for an advertisement. Your own fault; own risk. The police wouldn't do anything, because you knew that you might buy defective goods.

Ebay classifieds always writes that you pick it up on site & pay in cash. PayPal is also quite expensive for the seller, which I would reject
