Message on the laptop?

I always get this message on my laptop at intervals:

Webcam access to Microsoft Edge Content Process allowed.

Does this have anything to do with the Norton that I can do?

I don't know all that well

so I would be very happy about an answer from you

This means that your Internet Explorer (the blue e) has been given permission by your antivirus to use the webcam

Me

That probably means that a website can basically use the camera built into the computer, since this is permitted according to the security settings. (But that's just a guess, since I'm not using this Norton security software myself.)

It doesn't have to be bad, there are e.g. Websites for online meetings or video telephony, where it is entirely wanted that you are allowed to use the camera as well as the microphone.

But for all other websites, you should consider switching off access to the microphone and camera for security reasons.

Gu

Norton only reports what is happening in the background in your PC / laptop.

I personally use Firefox, but do not use a webcam, but think that the webcam can be used via Microsoft Edge.

What do I have to do to switch off access to the microphone and camera?

St

How can I revoke the permission to use the webcam from the antivirus program? Should I do that?

Me

You have to look that up in your programs / settings, I can't answer that for your computer, I don't use Windows or Norton security software.
