Okay, I don't really have much hope that anyone will know, or that it will work at all, but I thought I'd try it anyway.
So, I installed a Japanese keyboard on my laptop and it works pretty well too.
I.e. If I e.g. Type "ta" and it will automatically convert to た.
But I have a problem.
The buttons y and z are interchanged.
I.e. If I want to write ざ 、 ぜ 、 ぞ then I have to type ya, ye, yo and if I want to write や 、 ゆ 、 よ then I have to type za, zu, zo and I would like the other way around.
I only want to change it for these two keys, i.e. For z and y and only for the Japanese keyboard.
So, of course, the German keyboard should not change - the keys should stay as they are.
Is that somehow possible?
Take a look at the keyboard layout of an English or American keyboard. Compared to the German keyboard, Y and Z are interchanged, the German umlauts Ä Ö Ü are replaced by characters.
I suspect that you have to change the layout to "American" so that the Japanese key assignment is correct. Just try it out.
Or you can create your own keyboard layout:

Yes, I suspected that it would take over the Japanese from an English keyboard.
Ok, I'll try that.
I know that taking the second path is tedious, but since everything is well described, you could do it. The first way is easier and well described here:

I'll keep my fingers crossed.
The Japanese IME is based on the English keyboard.
But you can manually change each entry (but then also every one; e.g. Nya)
That goes over
Right click on the icon below (Hiragan a) → Properties → Advanced and then under
Editing operation and behavior under Advanced
Romaji-Kana-convertation or similar
So it worked!
