Laptop slows down due to overheating?

In general, my laptop is quite good, can it slow down a lot because of the heat or does the heat not affect it that much. I notice that it is slower for a while than then. (The inside has not been cleaned for a while, hence the question)

The hotter the processor runs, the more it refuels, but your problem is more likely that you have filled in the autostart and more programs are running in the background that make the computer slower.

Thanks for the answer, I only have CCleaner and a few Windows programs like OneDrive running in the background, I'm actually sure that this is due to the dust on the inside, as I don't really know how to disassemble PCs / laptops and I do don't trust.

Actually only have

We already have a possible culprit.
You didn't give in to the urge to clean up the registry by accident?
If so: Then you should have shot them to pieces - which can also depress performance if programs can no longer find their keys.

Otherwise: Yes, CPUs throttle their computing power when it gets too hot for them. Normal function for years.

Do you think it could help to disable ALL programs running in the background? I already knew that they put a certain amount of pressure on, but not that it really matters.

If you want to completely compromise the functionality of your system, go ahead! 😈

(It could of course also be that you wanted to ask something else - but I don't advise.)

Oh, I misunderstood your answer a bit at the beginning haha. I prefer to be careful because I don't change anything in the standard Windows settings. But thank you for your answer)
