I have an older laptop - which currently has an Intel Celeron 1.43 GHz 32bit processor installed. He is very slow. I have looked for other processors, for exactly this socket which is also in the laptop. And there are some processors that have the same socket. (Costs partly under 10 euro needed) And I also found an Intel Core 2 Duo with the same socket but 64bit. Costs only 10 euro. Would it, if the processor fits in the socket, also work or MUST it be again a 32bit processor so that the motherboard can work with it?
For such an old part, it really is a futile effort. Alone the Stres the whole part open.
if you're really sooo hung on your old part then get you an SSD hard drive, which ensures even true tempo wonder.
But have to see if the laptop has SATA at all.
The opening is not a problem. There's a large flap on the bottom which is screwed with 5 screws. Among them is processor, graphics, memory, HDD and fan.
To change the CPU on a laptop. This is not possible - since the manufacturer i.d.R. Not provided. All parameters (for example, cooling, chipset) are tailored to the original CPU, and the BIOS would have to support another CPU.
A large maintenance cover has many laptops, if necessary to make repairs…
A modern mSata SSD on 2.5 "ID works!

I made this year with my ancient laptop (P4 (32bit), 3.0GHz, 2GB, Win7).
Although it is a crime in the working speed (about 45MB / s), but it works relatively well due to the high access speed. At least the system runs much faster than with the original 60GB-HD with 4200 rpm. (We're pretty much "spoiled" by the newer technology…)
And if the laptop does not want anymore, then the mSata SSD can change into a normal PC by means of another adapter.

But also an external "USB 3.0" solution is feasible:

So the (main) investment is not lost.
I have a good tip for the older laptop as you can continue to use it meaningfully without spending money: Just install the operating system Cloudready. This is a customized Chrome OS that makes every device a Chromebook and costs nothing. This is also available as 32bit. Here is the download: https://davrt8itj6cgg.cloudfront.net/cloudready-free-70.4.40-32-bit/cloudready-free-70.4.40-32-bit.zip
Unpack the ZIP. Then with this tool https://www.balena.io/...io/etcher/ flash the image on a USB stick with at least 8GB. First plug in the stick and then start the tool.
Boot the created stick in the older laptop. Just follow the instructions of the installer. He immediately sets up the WLAN and can also completely erase the hard disk. After completing the installation and the first reboot, simply sign in with the Google Account. In the settings in the section Plugins you can install Flash, Codecs and Widevine with just one click. Restart and your Chromebook is ready. All updates are fully automatic in the background.
Cloudready goes off like a rocket. The voice control OK Google is also available.
