I have a laptop with 256mb ddr ram and generally old components
With wimdows xp
How can I still use it sensibly or upgrade again, eg operating system… Ps I can no longer access websites despite a lan connection
How much storage space does it have? (All in all)
You could use it for spare parts or for handicrafts
It helps, just scrapping it will probably not make Windows 10 and is therefore unfortunately no longer usable.
A beautiful, narrow LINUX brings life back to such an old box!
Which linux and how do I do it
As already said, take or sell the source as a spare part. Vlt also experiment or create memes because windows xp is very memorable. Otherwise with 256mb ram nothing more can be done
Linux Mint is really nice… Had to watch 64 or 32bit version?! With the old box probably 32bit 🤷🏼♂️
Googel according to LINUX MINT - USB installation…
I already burned it to a dvd but it came "can't found"
ISO on DVD?! Set in the BIOS that you can boot from external data carriers and boot sequence set the DVD to 1 ?!
I did but didn't work
Don't have a USB stick?! Smaller is enough… But DVD should work too?! Have you accidentally set something wrong when burning?!
Where did you load the ISO?!
Read this notebook out with Speccy:

It even works with WinXP.
We would then have information on the exact model name of the notebook and the "innards", such as CPU, RAM, hard disk, graphics unit and monitor resolution.
We can then work quite well with that.
If it is a Pentium 3, it will be very difficult. But from a Pentium 4 (3GHz) you can still do a little (!) Something.
A ram expansion to 2GB or 4GB would be very useful. To do this, we need the name of the built-in ram to find compatible modules. (=> Number, maximum module size and possible total capacity)
There are even (a few) new 2.5 "IDE hard drives available. And even a mSata SSD could be used as a trick. But that would be a nasty loss of performance in connection with this old technology. And absolutely not profitable, but rather crazy,
An old WinXP can be used offline. Otherwise, I recommend a small Linux (32bit), with which you can even install modern software on it.

Although it may be with a Linux Certain driver problems with the sometimes special notebook hardware could also occur. But then you have to try it out directly.
I took my first look at the first youtube video that came when I searched for "linux mint burn to dvd"
And 32bit version loaded?! Then there should be no obstacles to a functioning installation 🤷🏼♂️🙄
