Laptop only works with charger? Screen?

So without the charger, the screen of my laptop is black, but I can hear from the noises that it is on, but without a picture, when I connect the charger, the picture turns on. What can be the cause?

Fr

Is the picture always there with the power pack? Even when the display wobbles?

Sy

Obviously the battery is no longer supplying the required voltage for the backlight.

Av

The battery.

You can try to remove it.

Fe

Yes also works when wobbling

Aw

This is the battery. If you can get it and it doesn't cost the world. Swap is a simple thing.

Only makes sense if you really need it flexible.

Fr

Well, the CPU is much more power hungry than such a backlight. If everything else works, IMHO it is probably more due to a voltage converter on the mainboard. As a layman, however, this can't be repaired…

Fe

Sure because the laptop isn't that old?

Sy

Well, the CPU is much more power hungry than such a backlight.

That may be true. But if the CPU runs at 5 volts and the lighting runs at 12 volts and the battery does not provide 12 V, then that could be the cause.

Aw

No one can be safe from far away. It's just the answer to your question. Junior had the problem for 30 euro you can't complain.

Since you write something about wobbling. Is the question you come up with? Then you can screw the slot down. Otherwise a computer workshop.

Fr

If the battery doesn't deliver 12 volts or something, then certainly not enough power for the CPU. But okay, changing the battery is definitely a lot easier than looking for defective parts on the mainboard.

Sy

You should know the difference between voltage and current, right?

Fr

Yeah yeah But if a battery is so weak that it can no longer generate its minimum voltage, how is it supposed to generate the high amperage of the CPU?

Sy

Man, the CPU, fan and hard disk run in the milliampere range, even a half-broken battery can handle that.

Fr

A CPU that runs on mA? Please show me.

Fe

Is there another cause besides the battery?

Fe

Is there any other cause besides the battery?

Sy

A standard battery runs at 3000 mA / h. The entire board must be supplied with this current, i.e. CPU, fan, hard disk, graphics, IO ports, display, etc. Most components require 3.5 or 5 V.

You can calculate yourself how much of it the CPU sucks.

Sy

I can't think of any.

Av

Can be anything.
