Recommendations for laptops / notebooks for the university?

My friend will start studying next week. For this he wants to buy a new laptop.

We're now faced with a huge mountain of offers, but we're not sure what qualities the thing should contain.

The only program that he will use alongside Office, Excel and Word is Photoshop.

In addition, he places relatively little value on a long battery life, since he will spend most of his time working with the thing at home, where he has power sources.

Do you have recommendations / suggestions / hints or comments?

If he actually only needs the device for office applications, he should simply pay attention to the price.

A notebook for 2,000 euro would be absolutely useless in the event. Rather something in the order of 500. And there it could probably be anything as long as it is not an ancient shop keeper that is offered for too high a price.

Accordingly, Apple products are of course also eliminated. This together makes the offers much clearer.

Photoshop is the benchmark here, because you need a fast cpu (4 cores, e.g. I7) and a lot of RAM (8 GB).

if you are looking in the upper middle class (from approx. 500 euro), you can basically take anything that the two above. Conditions met. What is also important is the feel, the usability and whether you want a glossy or matt display. Unfortunately, this is only possible with the "living object" in an electronics market. And since they are usually larger than 800 m², they can't open yet.

A Ryzen 7 model would be recommended here, the multicore performance is pretty good and the perfect mobile cpu series for workloads.
