I know, there are already some questions, but unfortunately not exactly to my problem.
I've removed the hard drive from my laptop, because every time I see the error that the Win.32 exe is faulty. So I wanted to connect the hard drive externally to another computer, format and set up a new partition with operating system.
However, the hard disk is not recognized correctly on any of my computers. It will indicate that there's a drive on the USB port, but every time the Explorer, Device Manager and the Computer Management hangs when clicking on the hard drive…
Does anyone know how I can fix this to access the hard drive? Or is there another possibility?
Plug the hard disk into a linux system. It should not freeze like that
There are several ways to repair the hard drive:
Low level formatting: https://www.pc-magazin.de/download/hdd-low-level-format-tool-555833.html https://www.seagate.com/de/de/support/kb/how-do-i-low-level-format-a-sata-or-ata-ide-hard-drive-203931en/
The whole hard drive with zeros describe with the SeaTools for DOS: https://www.seagate.com/de/de/support/downloads/seatools/
Boot the computer with a live Linux distribution like Knoppix, start and format the program Gparted. If that does not work then start another Knoppix program that describes the entire surface with zeroes. I'll still deliver the name.
How to transfer Linux to USB-Stick bootable:
With Unetbootin https://www.heise.de/...ller-56487 you transfer Knoppix to a USB stick and boot your computer.
If you want to transfer several different Linux live rescue systems to a USB stick, use YUMI: https://www.heise.de/...ller-55707
Knoppix comes with a lot of great rescue tools, including the ability to write zeros to a hard drive and then format them normally in NTFS. On Distrowatch https://distrowatch.com/ you will find Knoppix or other Linux distributions with description and download.Knoppix: http://www.knopper.net/knoppix-mirrors/index-en.html
Hiren's Boot CD: also a very good collection of tools: https://www.heise.de/...otcd-86184
or the Ultimate Boot CD: https://www.heise.de/...ubcd-46586
Finally, the last free version of Parted Magic, which also brings along Erase Disc. So far, I have been able to make every hard drive functional again: https://www.heise.de/...agic-92431
