If I want to upgrade my laptop with 8 GB RAM, does it matter which manufacturer I buy it from or fits every model that is called DDR4 RAM in my laptop?
Well, laptops usually use SO-DIMMs, it may also be natural that you have already installed a DIMM that you want to keep or a part is even soldered… Then it does not make sense e.g. A lot of money to pay for faster RAM, since the RAM can only run on one frequency with specific timings (i.e. Greatest common denominator).
Otherwise, the manufacturer (mostly) doesn't matter, although there are OEMs, such as Apple whose boards are only compatible with RAM from very few certified manufacturers.
In addition, both DIMMs, soldered or not, must run on the same voltage in any case.
So if I search for SO-DIMM and in my case DDR4-2400 on Amazon, shouldn't I be able to go wrong with the purchase?
I wouldn't buy from Amazon and no, that wasn't my answer either.
