Why can I still use Microsoft Office even though my subscription has expired forever?

So it is like this: I bought a laptop with a 1-year office license around September 2018. As a result, it officially expired in September 2019. Nevertheless, I can still use Office today, i.e. Word, Powerpoint etc., without having renewed the license. Every time I open it, I get a notification that my subscription has expired, but I just click away and then I can get started.

Why is that? Shouldn't it stop working?

Maybe a bug

Depends on.

There's a free and a premium version.

You can always use the free version, but you have to pay a lot of money for the premium version.

So stick with the free version which is just as good.

I don't know whether I'm using the free version or the premium version, but at least there were never any restrictions where the software reported that I had to buy the premium version in order to be able to use the function🤷🏾♀️

But maybe the premium version has other functions that I would never have used anyway, so that doesn't really matter

I have purchased Office 2010. Whenever I open word or exel, the red bar is also displayed.

I close it and that's how it fits.
