Are there messengers that run natively on the laptop or tablet?
There are umpteen desktop chat apps.
Often they are not programmed natively. IMessage looks really good for me.
Wisest thing: I had to be 50 years old without all that stuff, I didn't even have a PC, but I wasn't lacking anything like that.
Try discord. Is equipped with chat and voice channels and more. Is free. You can make your own server or join another one via link.
Getting used to nothing is better. I've also become more careful there.

Download BlueStacks on your PC. Then you can download WhatsApp on your PC and only have to confirm an SMS on a cell phone once, but you never need the cell phone again afterwards. And all other Android apps work too.
I personally do without a smartphone, mobile phone, tablet, laptop or other mobile devices simply because I don't need them.
