I have been facing a puzzle for almost four weeks that I just can't get any further. For example, if I want to unpack a 7 GB RAR file on my new computer (stats below in the picture), my computer takes almost 5 minutes and the entire system slows me down. In other words, I can only start programs with difficulty and connected with waiting.
The strange thing, however, is that unpacking such a large file is quicker and easier on my less powerful and two year old laptop.
So what could it be? I use the latest version of WinRAR and have already tried other unpackers - which, however, showed no improvements.
best regards
It could be because of how many small files are in the 7GB Rar file. It is less about the size of the archive. The real difference between laptop and PC should be tested with the same file and not just with files of the same size.
What I can't read out here is whether you have an HDD or an SSD inside
It is not because of that either. Many small files slow down the unpacking process. That is correct. But whether single files or many small ones give me the impression that the system is simply running too slowly. So that's not why. The 7GB RAR file in my main question was therefore only an example.
It is an SSD disk.
How do you unpack… Is your version of the unpacking program UpToDate?
As already mentioned in the question, I use the latest version of WinRAR. But I have also tried other unpackers. All with the same result.
Unfortunately I have little idea of hardware-related things and therefore do not want to fumble inside the computer.
Who built the pc together?
Not me. I ordered it as it is because, as I said, I have no idea about hardware. I got technical advice from a friend and bought it like this.
