My husband makes music and makes his own music. Mainly with keyboard and guitar. I would like to get him a computer / laptop from apple, because it should be much better than windows. What do I take and how should the imac or mac book contain (technically) and which program? My husband has one that does not work well on windows. Unfortunately I do not know what that means.

for help, suggestions etc. Wäreich very grateful.

It all depends on which user interface he can deal with better. Apple offers Logic Pro X The best known in Windows are Fruity Loops, Ableton and Cubase. Everyone has to know for themselves what he gets along the best. Many use Fruity Loops or Ableton, with Fruity Loops supporting Windows and Mac OS. Fruity Loops also offers a lifelong update support, which is included in the price, as it looks like with other manufacturers I can't say.

The prerequisites that a computer has to meet in this case are a powerful processor, lots of memory, and a fast hard drive. In this regard, the price / performance ratio is very bad at Apple. (There's nothing wrong with the argument that Apple's hardware is of higher quality either: I've been working with Apple devices for 10 years now and have not had a single one that has not failed multiple times due to design flaws and has also caused additional repair costs Problem of the graphics chip of the 2011 Macbook Pros, problems with the antireflection coating of the Retina displays: "Staingate", problems of the butterfly keyboard that Apple has been using for several years, etc.)

On the other hand, with Logic X Apple has a really unrivaled cheap DAW for € 200, - which competes with software for up to € 1000, -. Even the more comfortable compared to Windows 10 operating system speaks more Apple…

Ultimately, the decision depends mainly on what software your husband wants to use. Ultimately, the established programs such as Logic, Cubase, Samplitude, Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Ableton Live, etc. Differ mainly by the workflow. So the question is, what does your husband like the most?

What is the case both under MacOS and under Windows: Current background processes limit the performance extremely. Maybe there's the first time to look for the error, if the software is "not so good" with your husband.

It is always said that apple is more for the creative, but the myth comes from the time when Apple had made the pc already colorful, where others have asked for black components, up to 50% surcharge. Otherwise there were only gray, gray and gray.

my personal tip: take a little time in your hand and various programs for windows on the own computer a little antesten, if there's nothing, most have time-limited test licenses, then maybe even take a little money in the hand and go to the apple store and try to get hold of someone, who shows it to you… Or even in a musician forum, etc. Quite offensively ask who works with apple and if the person is ready for a meeting that your husband can look at the times
