Microphone connection?

Hi, I recently rummaged out my old microphone and now wanted to record a few vocals, but my laptop does not recognize the microphone and records from the laptop with the internal microphone. The microphone was originally intended to be connected to a sound system. Could it be that it is only suitable for sound systems? I also noticed that at the end of the 3.5 mm jack instead of 2 black lines there's one. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I can see two obvious errors (provided the micro is not defective):

The Micro is an old analog device, which is no longer supported by your digital sound card (audio chipset).

The clinker socket on your laptop is a combination socket for a headset - i.e. Headphones and micro in one jack. Then you need an adapter cable that splits this combination socket into the two separate jacks for headphones and micro - see here:
