Can I still use my old Sony laptop with Windows XP Home?

Key data: Processor 2.80GHz, cache memory 128 KB, hard disk drive 40 GB, standard RAM 512 MB, maximum RAM 1 GB DDR SD RAM, graphics ATI RADEON GP 345 M etc! Which operating system will I have security u. How should I proceed here?! Mfg Peter

Of course - for word processing etc. Without internet connection in any case - XP was a very stable operating system.

However, there are problems with Internet usage: there are no more security updates, only older browsers are available for XP and these are locked out by many websites.

And it will be hard to find a useful antivirus program - Avira Antivirus, e.g. Does not support XP anymore

Since I would install a modern, well-equipped and virus-safe Linux Mint Cinnamon free and legal.

A virus scanner is not required for high-quality operating systems according to BSI.

The equipment with program full versions is gigantic, for me all necessary programs are there.

If the computer then feels tough: Take Linux Mint XFCE, which runs faster with the same equipment.

1 gigabyte for XP - would work, but with more intensive applications such as image editing or video editing will be difficult.

Would you advise to Linux with xfce…
