How can I connect my camera to the laptop?

Hi, I'm trying to connect my Canon Eos 6000 to my laptop. This has always worked so far, but now the laptop does not respond when I connect the camera. What should I do?

Connect the cables to the camera and laptop, switch on the camera and that's it, at least for me. At first the computer sets up something, but it doesn't take long and then it should work. Basically everything is automatic.
