I would like to download WhatsApp Desktop on my laptop. The problem is: I don't have a smartphone!

What's App always needs a phone number in order to be able to be used at all. I connected my cell phone to WhatsApp and also my tablet. I took my landline number for the tablet and it works fine. You might try this on your laptop too

So you have 2 WA accounts with 2 numbers…

You have 2 different accounts, mobile phone and landline, has nothing to do with WA-Web

Yes, that is correct and all the contacts I chat with more often have been created in groups that look like this: contact, me tablet, me mobile. These contacts created the same on their devices.
