HDMI splitter?

I ordered an HDMI splitter, with which I wanted to transfer the screen from my PC to a second screen which is connected to my laptop. Would that be possible?

I know that RDP would be an alternative, but I have to see what is visible on my PC screen on the laptop as well.

In short, can you make the screen of one system visible on a second system? With multiple screens and HDMI splitters / switcher, of course.

An HDMI splitter "mirrors" an HDMI signal on 2 outputs (= 2 monitors).

So you can connect the HDMI splitter to your PC and hang 2 monitors on it, both showing the same thing.

If your 2nd screen is connected to the laptop, the 2nd screen receives the video signals from your laptop and not from your HDMI splitter.

So it is not possible that you have the desktop of your laptop on your 2nd screen and also the mirrored screen of your PC via the HDMI splitter. Where should the output of the HDMI splitter also be connected to the 2nd screen?

In principle, with the appropriate (very expensive) video technology, you can generate a "Picture in Picture (PiP)" on the 2nd screen, which would be relatively pointless here, since the PC's picture would always be in the way.

If you want the screen of your PC as a window on your laptop, a remote desktop connection or TeamViewer will remain the simplest and most sensible solution.
In theory, a capture card or a cam link on the laptop would also be conceivable, whose input signal then e.g. Is represented with VLC.
