PS4 does not connect to HDMI splitter?

I bought an HDMI splitter and tried to connect the PS4 to the input and connected my TV and laptop to the output. However, no picture appears. But when I close the laptop to the input, a picture appears. That means it's up to the PS4. Do I have to adjust something on PS4 or buy another splitter?
