There are always so many background processes running on my Windows 10 laptop, which then also drain a lot of performance and battery life. How can I find out if these are important or if I can end them?
NEVER end Windows processes, otherwise my PC will crash or lead to errors
Task manager
Ctrl alt delete = task manager
autostart programs = deactivate
One way would be to google the name and check what the application is doing and what you can do to prevent it from consuming as much resources or whether you can do without it.
But please don't make the mistake of downloading any tool that promises to fix a "performance problem", please think carefully about everything you do and make a note of it so you can undo it.
Take an image of the record, then the current state can be restored with just a few clicks. A comparison to a freshly installed Windows should clarify which services are necessary.
Does anyone have a link to such a list?
There are 38 start keys in the registry that do not appear in the autostart. All programs entered there are started. All programs started with a start key can only be viewed and deactivated with the Autostarts program from Microsoft.
I was horrified when I was shown six pages with start programs that do not appear in the autostart.
Why is Microsoft covering up this data, does anyone have an idea?
This is said to have been reduced in 2004
An entire sentence would be nice as an answer.
In addition, the task manager shows very few programs that start when the computer starts. The Autostarts program would be the more appropriate answer, by the way.
Do you have the current list and further links please?
Oh I only read this before I sucked it, but there's nothing in the following link
