As a student, can I take out a 1500 euro loan?

I'm currently studying architecture in the first semester. Since I absolutely need a laptop that has to be powerful, it should be an expensive one. Because I can't even keep up with tasks where you can do with AutoCad or design a picture, but I have to draw by hand and that can be very stressful and time-consuming. I also get a bad rating as a result. Therefore I ask myself whether I can take out a 1500 euro loan to get myself a notebook or laptop.

(PS: I'm currently not receiving any student loans and have been waiting for their answer for 3 months).

Without a secure income, no (normal) bank will give you a loan.

For the bank, there are no recognizable prospects as to whether you can / will ever repay the loan.

Does your university have no PC laboratories where you can make CAD drawings.

We had something like that 10 years ago.

You can take out a loan. The question is, can you find someone to give you one?

An education loan from KfW Bank might be an option.

Firstly thanks for the answer and secondly. But the HS has PC laboratories, but I have to drive there for an hour every time.

Notebook for 1,500 euro would be as unnecessary as the Pope's eggs.

Mine is an entry-level notebook for around 499 euro and is around 4-5 years old.

Nowadays, every new notebook can easily handle CAD, even when rendering, nothing stutters anymore. Fortunately only mine is still 18.1 inches so you don't look your eyes out of your head.

At most, an installment loan at an extremely high interest rate with Klarna or Advanzia. Alternatively, an education loan from KfW.

Or simply lower the demands, because CAD does not now need so much computing power. A notebook does it for half the price.

So I have no idea about it, but I was told a powerful one which should cost over 1000 euro and all of them only have a semester or most of them have such notebooks. But as I said, I don't know my way around

There are possibilities, but it is not wise! How do you ever want to pay it back if you are dependent on student loans?

Rather take on the travel time and work in the university in the PC pool or look for a used or cheaper model.

I took a look here and they also listed savings tips. Eh a good post you should read: https://www.architektur-studieren.info/tipps/laptop-architekturstudium/

That supposedly every laptop fits as someone writes here is total nonsense. That might work with CAD programs from the nineties… The software we use today and teach in our studies simply has certain technical requirements that have to be met. Do you notice yourself…
