Connect camcorder to laptop to transfer digital 8 cassettes?

As described in the title, I'm currently trying to connect my old camcorder (Samsung VP-L770) to my laptop with Windows 10 so that I can transfer a few Digital 8 cassettes to it.

I read in the user manual how the whole thing should work, and consequently installed the included program, USB Media 2.0 Player. It was surprising enough that the whole thing worked that way up until then, but my laptop doesn't seem to recognize the camcorder, which is why the whole thing is no longer valid. I plugged it into the USB port, but it is only recognized as an "unknown device" whose "driver does not exist". To be honest, I don't know the part enough to know how to connect it, since the user manual only describes the USB connection.

Does anyone know how I can get my laptop to recognize the camcorder as such?

Getting a suitable driver is easy. All drivers I have found go up to XP and Windows 2000. If you still have an old PC with this operating system (friend, acquaintance, etc.) then try there. Otherwise a video grabber would be possible. The S-Video socket is used here.
