Pulling music from the CD onto laptop?

How do you pull the music from a CD over to the laptop? When I insert the CD, the title list appears, but the songs can't even be played. Only at the beginning of a small sign, where I can then play the music. But how do I pull the music over to the laptop again, so that it continues to be playable (even without a CD)?

Sp

There are numerous programs for this. CDex, EAC (Exact Audio Copy), etc.

As long as you do not bypass copy protection, you can easily make backup copies of your music CDs. The programs convert the tracks into (compressed) audio files (mp3, wav, flac)

After your description, the CD will probably have an included player for playback on the PC.

De

Are all the proposed programs legal?

Sp

The programs themselves are always legal. It depends on what you do with it and if your action is legal

A knife itself is not necessarily illegal just because I can kill someone with it

Look here: https://winlame.sourceforge.io/

Dr

Youtube itself is legal too. Upload copyright protected music, but not…

De

For example, what would be illegal, what could be done with e.g. Could make CDex?

De

What would be illegal, for example, what can be done with a program such as. Could make CDex?

Sp

What should that be? You asked how to copy CDs or extract tracks and I answered that. I consider the other questions of you as troll questions.

Dr

Rip copying CDs with it would not be legal. Or if you play this as a DJ but have paid no royalties at the GEMA for the copies.

De

I just asked, because if these programs are legal, why should they do something illegal? You alluded to it.

Sp

What a gaaanz interesting legal dispute should be!

Because with every record I buy the right to make a private backup copy (we leave out the copy protection outside). So how does GEMA charge fees for a copy if GEMA fees have already been paid to purchase the sound carrier and the data carrier?

Sp

Sorry, but you will be able to answer the question yourself.

De

Then just write the bare essentials and it's good

Dr

Well, I do not know. Is just the GEMA. I know that when you play the CDs you do not have to pay anything. Maybe this is only possible with the backup copy for private use? Is just a chicane to rip off money.
