I have an old laptop that is still very good, so I want to switch from win 8.1 to win 10. I have already used the upgrade wizard, but was unsuccessful. Since I still have a stick with win 10 on it, I want to completely delete or format the pc by opening the stick in the BIOS and installing Win 10 over it. Can I use my current product key for win 10?
For this you need a new key, but you can buy it online and get it by email within a short time
Yes all windows versions up to 7 have a key for a 10.
No, download win10 and have the program win10 installed on your windows. Then you automatically have a key inside. I doubt Opdas with the stick and the key sparks!
I don't know for sure if that works, but what works for sure:
Stay with Windows 8 and download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. There you click through the setup menu and then at some point select "Upgrade for this PC".
It'll work for sure.
Only believe if you "upgrade". You can definitely upgrade from Win8.1 to Windows10 for free. For this you need a tool from the Microsoft website. But watch a short video on YouTube for 5 minutes, then you know it
I recently successfully activated Windows 10 with a Windows 7 key. Since Microsoft only treats later versions worse than previous versions (the only exception I know is longer support for Windows 3.11 than for a Windows NT descendant), Windows 8.x should be even more effective.
However, it is a professional version - it is not certain from this alone whether Home is also possible.
Do you know a provider that is very cheap and works 100%
