I have a cable connection at home via Vodafone 500 / mbits, when I do a speed test I always get this value displayed, but when I download files via LAN connection to the PlayStation or laptop, the download quickly drops drastically to just 10 / MBits It doesn't matter if it is during the day or at night or at the weekend what could be the reason?
Where do you do the speed test?
Which WLAN standard do you use b, g, n?
Server-side limitation. Imagine 100,000 people all want to suck with 500MBit. That's the end of funny
Divers e.g. As is myip but also via Google
Have dual wlan over 3 & 5 GHz but download only over LAN cable
Yes, but that can't be that I pay and absolutely never achieve even 10% of the performance
To 1. So you do not test on the router. OK
Can your router have more than 500MBit, that's… A little more than 60 megabytes per second, if I'm not mistaken. So you need GigaEthernet if you are not trunking.
If your LAN is running on Giga, check the properties of your LAN connections to see whether autonegotiation and MagicBit are activated, if available. Power off, as well as standby mode for your network.
to 3. As the operator of a server or service with your provider, I'm paying ne 500MBit. If I have a lot of users who access my hardware, I run a QoS that ensures that the requirements are met or that my infrastructure is overloaded.
Yes it can even up to 1000 / Mbits at least according to Vodafone is provided by the
Sorry I'm not a network expert, how can I see the properties of the LAN connections? Or. Switch off this autonegotation, MagicBit and the standby mode?
If that is too much for you, feel free to attach a YouTube link to me explaining that you don't have to explain everything.
Are you sure it is 10Mbit / s and not 10MB / s? Big difference. It also depends on how fast the network chip on the Playstation or laptop is. Last but not least, you can only download as fast as the server opposite can upload. Maybe it is also a technical defect, I would not be surprised at Kabel Deutschland.
In Windows you open the device manager (click the start button - type devicemgr [Enter])
Open network adapter, select LAN adapter, right click → Properties → extended.
Not all cards have these functions. If you have jumbo packages, also deactivate.
Otherwise, the services are simply slowed down.
The test delivers full performance, so it's not Vodafon's fault
So with me there are only the possibilities flow control, interrupt moderation, network address, priority & VLAN, recive buffers, speed & duplex and transmit buffers should I change something there?
And if I make these settings on the laptop, I keep them even when I connect the LAN cable, e.g. Plug into the PlayStation?
No. This is set on the device.
Duplex must be activated. You'd better leave the rest alone if it doesn't mean anything to you
Ok, unfortunately the speed hasn't changed either, but thanks for your effort!
Then the problem is on the other side of your line.
You can't do anything about that
