That depends on whether the notebook is designed for operation without a fan. If so, then nothing happens.
If it's not designed to do so, it will overheat and the processor will first throttle the core frequency and shut down at the end.
Overheating? Not when hardware and software do their job. If the CPU has to work hard and it gets permanently warm, it will be clocked down to avoid overheating. Clear that the box then works slower.
These devices are not for gamers or video artists made but for people who want to work silently on the go with as little weight on their texts and tables.
