Club DJ: does everyone use their own controller?

Let's ask a question: in the past, it was the case that a club had fixed equipment (record or CD player and mixer) and the DJ just brought their music with them.

But I would like to know how it works in times of laptop and controller. Does every DJ bring his own devices? And how is the seamless transition from one DJ to the next?

Well, most clubs and most professional DJs use, for example: the CDJ-2000NXS2 and the DJM-750MK2.

Imagine now, each DJ brings his own technique, which is always off - and built up. That would end in total chaos.

Most of them now have sticks, or external SSDs where the music is stored on it. The laptop is mostly only used to support the soundtracks. For a larger overview of the tracklist, as you can see all relevant information on the displays of the CDJ's.

At the end of a set, only a maximum of 2 of 4 channels are used. Thus, the subsequent DJ can easily connect his storage medium to the CDJ, which is currently not used and focus on getting started for his set.
