So I have a laptop that I should expand to 2 more screens. Only it has only one HDMI connection and a distributor does not work. But he has a USB-C connector and I have seen such an adapter at Saturn. Would that work if I connect the USB-C port to the HDMI using the adapter from the screen?

Yep, that works. I have an IMac that has only USB-C ports, connected to a 2nd monitor via adapter + HDMI cable so.
One must bear in mind that the USB to HDMI adapter is in truth a small external video card with integrated HDMI.
