Dear Community,
I bought a screen to connect to my laptop. If I plug the HDMI cable directly into the laptop, everything works. So far so good.
But now I also bought a USB-C hub (see picture) to add a few connections to the laptop and to be able to leave all USB plugs (for mouse, keyboard, …) and HDMI cables plugged in there. I just didn't want to change a thousand cables every time I took the laptop with me somewhere.
Unfortunately, my laptop does not recognize the screen as soon as I plug the HDMI cable into the hub and not directly into the laptop (if I press "Detect" in the system controls, it says that no other display was detected). This is already the 2nd hub that I tried for it and it doesn't work here either. So it doesn't seem to be that.
Can someone help me with the problem? Why is it and how do I get it solved? Thank you so much!

Quite simply, the HUB can't convert images, the USB is not intended for that.
If so, you need a converter from HDMI to USB.
But if it would be so difficult it would not be senseless to pull out a cable and plug it in.
Insane! I would have thought that an HDMI connection on the hub was intended for exactly that. I thought I was wrong and didn't get enough information.
Well, a USB hub can't necessarily do this… Directly on the PC if it has a converter in it, it might work.
