I got a laptop for Christmas and wanted to plug in my headset today. Then comes the notification whether it is a headset or headphones in Windows. I have selected a headset and if I want to say something now, I only hear loud noise and not myself. Do you have any idea why that could be?
Do you have the necessary drivers installed? Usually the device does it automatically when you plug it in. Sometimes, however, the versions are not compatible or the installation simply hangs up.
Press Windows key - enter "Driver" - press "Enter"
In the opened window click on "View" → "Show hidden devices"
Then click below on the PC with the magnifying glass
Now you should either have "unknown device" in the driver list (then right click → Uninstall, then plug in the headset again)
If you don't have an unknown device, look under "Headphones" / "Speakers" or "Microphone". If the drivers are greyed out, try to install them with a right-click, if that doesn't work, simply uninstall them, restart the device and plug the headset again. Once the headset works properly, it should in the future too.
I think I found the problem. I just uninstalled the device and plugged it back in. The notification came again and I only tried to plug in the headphone plug and select the headset. The exact same name came out. And if I put in the microphone / headset plug & headphone plug from the headset, it doesn't work either. This is not good.
The first thing I tried was to plug in the headset plug and then select the headset and then the headphone plug, but it still doesn't work anymore. On the PC, etc. Is it possible?
I have an extra headset & headphone output.
