What do I have to do that the headset works?

I bought a headset but it has 2 connections for speaking and headphones but since I only have 1 such connection on the laptop, I got an adapter but what do you have to set now because it doesn't work somehow and a headset would have to be thrown away for 300 euro a nightmare

If the cables are sorted by color, you would have to plug them into the same socket that the cables have the same color.

So e.g. Salmon-colored / pink to salmon-colored / pink

Red to red.

And then just plug it into the laptop and wait 2-3 minutes until it has fully installed the drivers and recognized the headset, etc.
