I'm looking for a good app or website to scan my new PC from time to time. For security reasons can someone recommend one that is free?
Can recommend the free version of Kaspersky, works great and protects well.
Windows Defender also works with Avira.
However, one of the two should suffice for private use.

In private, the Windows Defender is enough.
A very simple answer: You don't need one. Go to Settings and activate Windows Defender. I myself have a very expensive gaming computer and only use Windows Defender.
As far as I remember correctly, Kaspersky sued Windows Defender because Defender is too good and is therefore damaging to business for Kaspersky.
The Windows Defender is now completely sufficient and in its protective effect, whipping oil from other third-party manufacturers is in no way inferior. I would install a maximum of Malwarebytes, if at all, and then temporarily (against) scan your computer with it.
