Problem with a new laptop battery?

I have a problem with a new battery for my laptop. Since the old one was broken I wanted to get a new one. However, it is not loaded and can't be used. But saw that the old battery had 11.1 volts and the new 10.8 volts. Now wanted to ask whether it is related to it or whether it depends on the laptop.
