Graphics card - broken?

I think my graphics card is suddenly broken, almost everything went yesterday, but it started yesterday. Suddenly there were strange pixels on the screen, then they were gone, then the picture froze for a few seconds and then it was back to normal, and so on. Today I turn on the PC and have no picture anymore. The monitor is not broken (I connected my laptop to it).

What should I do now? All my things are on the PC.

Maybe activate a graphics chip on the motherboard or processor or wherever it is xD

Would have to go somehow, right? So that I can at least secure my things and until I have a new graphics card, the PC can still use something. Gambling with it is then of course no longer first. If the card is broken at all.

Anyone have any idea?

If you remove your graphics card from the PC, the internal graphics unit of your processor should automatically step in.

Alternatively, open the Device Manager and right-click and deactivate your graphics card there.

cl

Yes, the alternative is unfortunately not possible because I have no picture. I have to try to expand it.

If your processor has a graphics chip, you can use it. If you currently have no image signal, you probably have to remove your possibly defective graphics card from the PC and connect the monitor to the mainboard, then the PC should automatically switch to the graphics chip of the processor, if it has one.

About the graphics card: Artifacts and image disturbances are a very bad sign, it may actually be that your graphics card is smoked. Of course, you can also simply install a new graphics card. You just have to make sure that your PC has the right power connections if necessary.

If you give me the exact processor and the graphics card, maybe I can give you some more information.

The processor is definitely Intel Xeon. I can't say more, I don't see it that way. Graphics card Amd Sapphire (I've been on the PC since 2013)

Most Xeons have no internal graphics (IGP) … Only the more expensive ones.

For you I assume a 1230v3: https://geizhals.de/...54057.html

Or an older one.

You'll notice if your Xeon has an IGP.

cl

Well supi

I also have a Xeon without an integrated GPU, but I assumed that like most people you have a processor with integrated graphics. Sorry, you're so dry.

To back up data, you have to remove your SSDs and hard drives and connect them to another computer. Either internally or via external adapters. For SATA there are some that have an internal disk connected via USB.

cl

I have a SSd, is that easier with that?

sk

It depends on what connection it has. This is typically SATA, mSata, M2 or PCIe. For SATA I have an adapter myself, for some others there should be some. Send your model or take a look at how it is connected and then you can search for an adapter to connect it to your laptop, for example.

The Xeons very often have no graphics chips. The information on the graphics card is not enough, that is only the manufacturers (AMD makes the graphics chip, Sapphire the cooler. But there are countless AMD Sapphire cards).

Do you want to play with the PC or do any other 3D intensive applications? Or do you just need an image signal?

cl

Graphics card is off, nothing brings halso no graphics chip.

cl

The SSD has no USB or something, how should I connect it to the laptop?

cl

Amd radeon 7770

sk

As I said, with an additionally purchased https://www.amazon.de/...B077ZQTNSX Or for https://www.amazon.de/...B07KBT19PT. I can't tell you which one you need because I don't know your SSD model. You have to be careful, so read the descriptions of the adapters and the models with which they are compatible.

Can I install any graphics card on any PC?

cl

Can you connect any graphics card to any pc?

Ju

From the motherboard, yes, since all graphics cards (which are not exactly 20 years old) use PCIe. Only if you install a graphics card with PCIe 3.0 on a PCIe 2.0 board can the card lose some performance.

It is particularly important that the power supply has the appropriate connections. Mancha graphics cards have no additional power connections, and draw all of their power from the mainboard. However, if the graphics card needs more power, 1-2 power cables with 6 or 8 pins from the power supply must often be connected to the graphics card. The power supply should also offer enough power overall.
