My notebook does not work and displays the following error message: bootmgr is missing. I still have the Windows 7 operating system installed. After some research I read that you need the Windows 7 DVD to play the operating system up again. In the error message, I would most likely say that your hard drive is in the bucket.

Ohh, I can't say that anymore, because I'm out of Win7 for too long. If you can select upgrade (similar to Win10), the data would be retained - but will be displayed in the menu.
You have to fix the MasterBootRecord (Mbr). But you need a Win7 Setup DVD. Can you borrow from friends as well?
From the startup DVD go to command prompt (cmd) and fix the MBR with fixmbr.
