I bought a 240gb BX500 and would like to rüberklonen the contents of my 150/500 GB HDD including operating system, so I quasi make only one press of a button, and then expand the eHDD.
I do not have an adapter to connect the thing to the USB port - can I still clone on the SSD, if I simply install it together with the HDD in the laptop?
Install together. Then clone with a partitioning software.
If your laptop has two SATA ports / hard drive bays, yes.
One can e.g. Clone disks with the "Partition Wizard" mini-tools at the press of a button.
And before format the SSD on GPT, goes also in the PW.
Jo has my laptop, thanks!
What is GPT and PW? ^^
I think I'll just use the software from Crucial, which should do the thinking by itself - if it works.
GPT = GUID Partition Table, a more modern form of hard drive formatting than MBR that delivers many disks.
PW = Partition Wizard
The Acronis tool that comes with it goes, of course.
