Connect Thinkpad T60 to TV?

I have a slightly older IBM ThinkPad T60 with Windows XP. I would like to connect it to my television via VGA so that I can watch films on it, but unfortunately it doesn't work that well… The television is recognized and displayed but does not receive a signal from the laptop. Unfortunately, I don't know what I could do now and am therefore very grateful for any solution.

By the way, the graphics unit is the ATI Radeon X1300.

Windows XP SP3 is installed

It is possible that you still have to set the graphics setting under Windows so that the connected screen should be transmitted from the laptop. This graphic setting should usually be located there in the Control Panel.

Most notebooks have a function key for switching the screens. Do you have to press [Fn] below and at the same time the appropriate key above (somewhere between [F1] and [F12], there should be a small blue icon with one or more screens on it)
