Samba share not accessible under Windows?

I have the following problem:

If I want to access the Samba share with Windows, this is not possible. Failed with "Sambadomain could not be accessed"

The Samba release is from a storage box from Hetzner. My Nextcloud instance is fine with it.

Have already tried it on the laptop with hotspot but nothing helped? Anyone an idea?

I would be grateful.

I also had that on my Thecus Nas, this is an old function that is no longer activated in a newly installed Win10 …

Unfortunately, I can't tell you more about it at the moment, because I'm at work and not at my links, come…

But you can fix the error yourself, it's just a few clicks in the network settings…

If you haven't solved it by tonight, please contact me again…

Would be nice. I'm sure not that easy to find

In addition:
In one of the last Windows updates, the SMBv1 protocol was deactivated by default. It's just too vulnerable to security.

The best solution would be to activate at least SMBv2 or better SMBv3 on NAS devices. Then it should work again with finding.

You can reactivate SMBv1 as follows:
Start button => enter "Featrues" => click on "Activate or deactivate Windows features".
Tick the box in front of "Support for SMB 1.0 / CIFS file sharing" and confirm with OK.
Important: This opens up security gaps in the system. So don't complain if malware is spread over the LAN.

El

Yes that was the way to enable it again…

Fr

This is already activated, and I think that Hetzner uses an insecure protocol if you know that the whole thing is not used in their network

El

But you only have the problem with the NAS, right?

Fr

This is a storage box from Hetzner… I get this: error code: 0x80070043

Fr

I just tried it with the mobile phone Tried on the Samba V2 / V3 protocol and it worked: / Windows 8.1 may be poking around with it (and yes I use that because I think it's nicer than 10: 9)

ta

Now we're getting closer to it:
The Storagebox from Hetzner is not a NAS or data storage device in the home network.
It is a cloud storage. Addressing something like that with SMB or NFS over the Internet is not a good idea.
Presumably, Hetzner will also use software for this to display the shares in the LAN. It's definitely a nice source of error.

If in doubt, you should contact Hetzner - your contractual partner.

Fr

Well, I can easily connect to a Samba app with my mobile phone.

Fr

And I need Samba because it's supposed to be used outside of my projects (programming) and you can only access network drives with it.

ta

Explanations do not change the conclusion.

If you think you need this protocol for internet communication, then that's OK for me. - I would choose other, more common and safer ways for the cloud.
