Can I swap the I3 core with an I5 in a laptop?

I have a laptop with an Intel core I3, can I remove the I3 and install an I5 instead, or is there a difference in size so that it doesn't work?

This is usually not possible even with mainboards. The processors in the notebook are usually firmly soldered. Therefore an exchange is absolutely impossible.
